Last year, Edilberto Flancia from Lucena City, Quezon opted to receive his retirement claim from the Social Security System (SSS) via the DiskarTech app of the Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC). This simple act was transformed into an unexpected prize: a brand-new motorcycle.
The prize is courtesy of RCBC’s DiskarTech, in partnership with SSS, under their “Handog na Motorsiklo Ngayong Pasko Promo,” which ran from Nov. 10 to Dec. 10, 2021.
To qualify for the promo, SSS members simply had to register their DiskarTech accounts on the Disbursement Account Enrollment Module (DAEM) of the app. Members who received their loans and benefits from SSS via the DiskarTech app automatically got one raffle entry for the promo.
Flancia was not aware of the promo upon registering his SSS account in DiskarTech’s DAEM. Still, he won a Hondo Click 125i motorcycle, which was handed over to him at an awarding ceremony last May 24 at the SSS head office in Quezon City. SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Michael Regino and, RCBC Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation and Inclusion Officer Lito Villanueva did the honors.
According to Flancia, the app was a blessing, as it allowed him to withdraw his SSS pension where there were ATMs, digital banking, and e-wallet services are available. “Madali at convenient mag-withdraw kaya DiskarTech ang napili kong app na gamitin,” he said. The retiree from Quezon would be using his brand-new motorcycle for his travels to the town proper.
“The digital platform is a convenient way for members to get their SSS benefits and loan proceeds,” Regino said, lauding DiskarTech for providing a responsive digital solution for SSS members.
DiskarTech is a mobile app launched by RCBC in July 2020 to provide an online facility for SSS members to get their benefits and loan proceeds.
It has since grown into the Philippines’ first and only Taglish and Cebuano financial inclusion app offering sachet banking products and digital banking services such as funds transfer, bills payment, as well as micro-insurance, health insurance, telemedicine, and loans.
It also functions as a savings account with a convenient and easy-to-follow registration system. DiskarTech accepts 18 different kinds of identification cards for account verification, making it easy for anyone to open an account.
RCBC has partnered with various government agencies. This is in line with Executive Order 170 requiring government agencies to use digital platforms to disburse and collect payments. DiskarTech’s partnership with government agencies is part of its effort to support an all-inclusive digital financial system for the Philippines, where financial services are more accessible to Filipinos.
With its range of digital banking services and ease of account opening, DiskarTech is the app ng masa.
“Buy and sell po kami ng motor. Yun po ang pinagkakaabahalan ko ngayon. Konting kita pandagdag sa paggawa ng bahay. Thankful po ako sa DiskarTech. Dahil dito, nakapag-ipon ako sa pagpagawa ng bahay namin,” said Rosalyn Rivera, a 24-year-old DiskarTech NegosyanTech Ambassador from Tarlac.
Kaxandra Salonga, a 21-year-old self-taught digital artist from Oriental Mindoro, meanwhile, said DiskarTech has helped her “embark in the quest of self-growth and rediscovery through art-making,” thanks to the financial services of the app.
DiskarTech has many ongoing promotions for new and current members, such as the DiskarTech Missions, Season 2 promo where users who use the app for over-the-counter deposits, fund transfers to DiskarTech from other banks and e-wallets via Instapay, e-load purchases, and other digital bank functions can get the chance to win cash prizes.
