Petron donates PPEs as fight against COVID-19 continues

Petron Corporation through Petron Foundation continued with its efforts to assist medical frontliners in the battle against COVID-19.

With funds raised from Petron Value Card (PVC) holders and a corresponding contribution from the company, Petron was able to provide complete sets of personal protective equipment to several COVID-19 referral hospitals.

Recipients of the complete PPE sets were the Lung Center of the Philippines, Philippine General Hospital, Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital and Sanitarium, and San Lazaro Hospital.

The sets include PPE suits, medical goggles, N95 and surgical masks, and medical gloves.

Since March, Petron has been actively helping the country overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. The Philippines’ largest oil refining company has previously distributed pre-loaded PVCs to doctors, nurses, and other hospital staff as a token of appreciation for their invaluable service and sacrifice.

It also donated free fuel to help frontliners in Luzon, Iloilo, Tagbilaran, and Cebu avail of free transport.Special discounts were also extended to workers from various sectors.

“We have a commitment to ensure the unimpeded transport of essential goods and personnel. Apart from this, we also want to make things more bearable for our brave frontliners and the people who are most affected by this pandemic by helping the best way we can,” said Petron President and CEO Ramon S. Ang.

Petron has also been helping bring essential food items closer to communities in order to minimize health risks. Through the efforts of its parent company, San Miguel Corporation (SMC), a number of Petron stations continue to serve as sites for San Miguel Foods Inc.’s Manukang Bayan rolling store concept and recently, the Department of Agriculture’s KADIWA project which aims to assist farmers in the province sell their fresh harvest in Metro Manila.

Over a million pesos in assistance was also extended to Petron Tulong Aral scholars. Petron service station dealers and LPG and lubes distributors all over the country have also initiated their own CSR activities to help in their respective areas, as well as their own staff, cope with the challenges brought by COVID-19.
