BossManual Makes Fashion More Sustainable, and Sustainability More Fashionable

How do you transform the fashion industry’s take-make-waste model into something more sustainable? The new book called BossManual takes an innovative approach by showcasing Filipino men of substance and their personal styles, to make a case for mindful consumption and circular fashion.

BossManual takes you into the world of eco-conscious fashion and sustainable living with a diverse group of notable leaders from across the Philippines who inspire positive change. A select group of “BossMen” handpicked for the book are featured in its pages wearing a variety of outfits that express their personal styles. The BossManual team worked closely with these men and shopped in their own closets to find the appropriate outfits, some of which were repaired, altered and upcycled for the photoshoot, to underscore a key message of the book: that being fashionable and stylish does not mean having to buy something new.

BossManual is the brainchild of circular fashion advocate and image consultant Tati Miranda Fortuna, Founder and CEO of Escario & Fortuna, President and CEO of Ucycle Inc. and Business of Style Corp., and the current President of the Association of Image Consultants International – Philippines Chapter. Tati envisioned BossManual not just as your ordinary fashion guide, but a manual to help men with ambition to enhance their professional image and confidence through practical fashion tips, expert insights, and real-life examples, all with sustainability in mind.

“I started actively promoting sustainably-made corporate-wear, workwear, and uniforms using dead stock fabric and post-consumer recycled plastic bottles, and at the same time talked to my clients about the opportunity to return, repurpose, and upcycle their old linens and uniforms”, shared Tati Miranda Fortuna

The book features everything men need to build a winning capsule wardrobe, curate a sustainable closet, answer vital fashion queries, and discover eco-friendly shopping and dining gems.

BossManual showcases 32 BossMen–all coming from different backgrounds, ages and industries–who are CEOs, executives, experts and masters in their own fields, while all practicing sustainability in their own companies and in their personal lives.

“Choosing which bosses to feature was a challenge, but my team and I were able to put together an amazing set of leaders from across the country”, Fortuna mentioned in Boss Manual.

“While our shoots showcased many outfits, none of them were bought—we shopped in the bosses’ closets and picked items that express their personal style. We also put together new looks for them and repaired, altered and upcycled some of their items. Looking fashionable and stylish does not mean having to buy something new”, she added.

When asked what’s in store for Boss Manual in the future, Tati enthusiastically shared that she wants to share sustainability ideas to more and more people.

“The next step that I want to take is to share with more people how sustainability in our clothing choices and in our daily lives can be practiced and embraced by every individual”

BossManual will be available at Fully Booked Rockwell, BGC and Mitsukoshi for only PHP1,899. Available soon on Amazon.

Let’s stride towards a more stylish and sustainable future—one exciting step at a time!
