Officially TRENDSCENDED! A Seminar on Maximizing Digital Trends Had a Leap Towards Success

The BAPR 4th year students of Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) are delighted to share the success of the 20th AdCongress – “ADPORTAL: Traversing Through the Maze of ADPR Innovation. The yearly AdCongress is a series of seminars that open doors to discoveries by bringing together students, faculty, and guest speakers from the industry for an opportunity to connect with aspiring practitioners in the field of Advertising and Public Relations.

On February 15, 2024, BAPR 4-2D (Yugtwo) officially commenced TRENDSCEND: A Seminar on Maximizing Digital Trends, at the PUP Claro M. Recto Hall, providing a venue to gain relevant insights on how to properly adapt and utilize digital trends from experts. The attendees came from different universities including Curtin University Malaysia, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, University of Caloocan City, University of Santo Tomas, Adamson University, Arellano University – Pasig, Lyceum of the Philippines University, University of the Philippines – Open University, and of course from PUP. These students mostly take up Bachelor in Advertising and Public Relations along with BSBA in Marketing Management.

The seminar featured a lineup of highly esteemed Trend Experts, Ms. Julie Dupaya, a Senior Social Media Manager of Propel Manila, and Ms. Patrice Advincula, a Digital Media Campaign Manager and Customer Support Senior Associate of Google Operations Center Philippines. Students also had a chance to hear from the special guest, Mr. Biboy Royong, the Executive Creative Director of Dentsu Creative Philippines. Mr. Royong inspires the students to maximize the combination of art and advocacy to create an impactful campaign on his segment ‘TRASH TALK: Calling out Plastics’ Toxic Traits’. He advised students to understand their target market, deliver a clear and relatable message, and inspire to enhance the effectiveness of their campaign. Ms. Dupaya in her talk ‘Exploring the Advertising & PR Digital Trends’, guided the students on how to spot digital trends.

They are also encouraged to always be open not just to digital trends but also to the insights that they can get from everyday discussions with people around them. Ms. Advincula, with her topic ‘Adapting the Digital Trends in the World of Advertising and PR’, helped the attendees to understand change is guaranteed in the ADPR industry and that digital trends are part of it. She also shared the pros and cons of using digital trends and the steps to utilize them to achieve brand success, emphasizing the advantage of gathering analytic data. During the seminar, attendees not only learned in discussions but also enjoyed the games such as the Guess that Trend Game which came with amazing prizes. They were also thrilled to be serenaded by Mcjeam Ariexs, a singer-songwriter who garnered more than 100,000 streams worldwide on Spotify.
